International House Milano | San Donato occasionally offers free English courses for adults as part of its internationally recognised teacher training programmes.
Classes are taught by trainee teachers and closely supervised by experienced CELTA and DELTA trainers, ensuring a structured and high-quality learning experience.
Courses are available online and, in some periods, also in person in Milan. Places are limited, participation is selection-based, and regular attendance is required.

We are currently selecting participants for the next free English courses.
For all courses, the required levels are always A2+ and B2.
Places are limited and confirmation is subject to the result of the level test and final selection.
Online editions (Zoom)
The online free course:
- takes place on Zoom;
- is for adult learners;
- has limited places;
- requires level A2+ or B2.
Online course on Zoom
- Dates: 4 May – 6 June
- Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 9:30–12:00
- Mode: Online on Zoom
Please note: 2 June is a public holiday, so in that week there will be a lesson on Friday 6 June.
In order to participate in the free course, you must take our online English test to verify that you have the required level of English.
Important: before starting the test, select “free course with trainee teachers” from the courses of interest.
In-person summer courses (Milan)
International House Milano usually offers 1–2 free in-person courses during the summer at one of its locations.

In-person course – Milan
- Dates: 26 June – 24 July
- Schedule: Monday to Friday, 9:30–12:00
- Venue: International House Milano, Viale Mecenate 90/B, Milan
- Required levels: A2+ and B2
In order to participate in the free course, you must take our online English test and register your interest in the in-person edition.
If you can’t find a place / there isn’t a suitable edition
If there aren’t any free editions available at the moment that match your level or schedule, you can start straight away with our Adult English courses, online or in person.
How to apply
1. Take the free English test
Before applying, you must complete the online English level test.
The test allows us to verify whether your English level matches the levels required for the free courses: A2+ or B2.
Please select “free course with trainee teachers” before starting the test.

2. Selection and confirmation
After the test, our team will contact you if your level is suitable and if places are available.
3. Deposit (in-person courses only)
- Deposit: €50
- Payment method: cash only
- Refund: on the last day of the course, provided attendance is regular
- Maximum absences allowed: 4
- Online course: no deposit required
- Exemption: Available for unemployed participants (documentation required)
- Online courses: No deposit required

- a stable wifi connection
- a phone is not allowed as the device for attending lessons
Attendance
Regular attendance is required.
The maximum number of absences allowed is 4 per course.
Certificate of attendance
No certificate of attendance is issued for courses linked to CELTA/DELTA.
Deposit for the in-person course
For the in-person course only, a refundable deposit of €50.00 is required, to be paid in cash only.
The deposit will be returned on the last day of the course if attendance is regular and absences do not exceed the maximum allowed.

Is the English course really free?
Yes. Courses are free. A refundable deposit applies only to the in-person course.
Are lessons online or in person?
Most editions are online. In some periods of the year, we also offer in-person courses in Milan.
Is a specific level required?
Yes. For all free courses, the required levels are always A2+ and B2. The free English test is used to check eligibility.
Do I need to take the level test?
Yes. The free English test is compulsory before selection.
How many absences are allowed?
The maximum number of absences allowed is 4.
Do you issue a certificate of attendance?
No. No certificate of attendance is issued for courses linked to CELTA/DELTA. If you need an official certification (Cambridge, IELTS, Linguaskill), please see our Exams section.
