Young Learners Senior Teacher

International House Milan & San Donato is seeking expressions of interest from experienced Young Learner professionals who are ready to take on broader professional responsibilities by joining our Academic Management team in a role that combines excellent classroom teaching with academic leadership.

Contract Details  

Full-time (40 hours/week) | Fixed-term contract (11 months) with the possibility of extension subject to organisational needs.
Contract period: 1 September 2026 – 30 July 2027

Typical working pattern: Monday–Friday, 10:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m. Some Saturday work may be required throughout the academic year in line with the academic calendar and school events.

The successful candidate will work across our IH San Donato centre, our IH Milan centre (Corso Lodi) and, where required, at our operational off-site venues in Milan. 

The Opportunity 

This role offers a balanced combination of classroom teaching and academic leadership. Working closely with the Director of Studies and Academic Management team, the successful candidate will support teacher development, maintain high academic standards and contribute to the continued growth of our Young Learner department. At the same time, the role provides the opportunity to continue developing as an outstanding classroom practitioner while contributing to the wider academic direction of the department. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Teach an agreed timetable of Young Learner classes and model excellent classroom practice.
  • Support and mentor teachers through observations,feedback and professional conversations. 
  • Contribute to teacher induction and CPD.
  • Support curriculum planning, qualityassurance and academic projects. 
  • Collaborate with Academic Management,timetablers and administrative staff. 
  • Support Open Lessons, Parents’Evenings and other Young Learner initiatives. 

The ideal candidate 

The ideal candidate will: 

  • Be an experienced Young Learner teacher ready to take on greater responsibility. 
  • Have strong organisational and interpersonal skills. 
  • Be a collaborative professional committed to academic excellence. 
  • Be someone who enjoys supporting colleagues while continuing to teach. 

Essential requirements 

  • CELTA, TrinityCertTESOL or equivalent. 
  • Excellent command of English(CEFR C2 or equivalent). 
  • Significant Young Learner teaching experience.
  • Right to work in the EU.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience  

  • IHVYL/IHCYLT or equivalent.
  • Delta (completed or in progress).
  • Experience mentoring teachers or delivering CPD.
  • Previous Senior Teacher experience.
