CELTA

The IH Milan CELTA course is offered in various formats to cater to as many individual requirements as possible. All courses consist of both tutor-led seminars and teaching practice. In the seminars you will learn about different teaching techniques and aspects of the English language. During teaching practice you will have the opportunity to put theory into practice as you teach real adult students followed by feedback from your tutors and peers. On all courses you will be expected to spend a significant amount of time outside the course hours on preparation, assignment writing and revision.

• Intensive: 4 weeks face-to-face or 5 weeks online
• Part-time: 2 evenings and 1 Saturday per week
• Extensive: 1 day per week for 21 weeks

The fully online course is exactly the same set up as the “face-to-face” one, but in a virtual environment. The course is fully online in real time. Interaction between trainees and with tutors contributes greatly to the course and for this reason the sessions are not recorded and attendance is mandatory. 

The requirements to join the course are a C2, or as a minimum a high C1, level of English and a high school diploma or equivalent. Candidates must be at least 18 years old (at the start of the course) and, generally speaking, must have a level of education which will enable them to enter higher education in their own countries. The course is open to native and non-native speakers although candidates must have a competence and knowledge of English, both written and spoken, that enables them to take the course and teach English. Please note that an interview is required before enrolling on the course.
