Language teacher training
Ahead of the times since 1953
International House, founded in 1953, was a pioneer of language teacher training, organising the first training courses for English teachers, and has always been at the forefront of teacher development. The renowned Cambridge University CELTA course – Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults – is based on the IH Certificate, created by International House.
At a global level, language teachers trained by our organisation are considered the most expert, creative and authoritative in their profession.
International House offers its teachers ongoing development and learning, based on observations of class lessons, seminars, refresher courses, and workshops at the schools throughout the world.
At International House Milan we offer a wide range of courses for both new and experienced teachers, covering General English, Business English, Young Learners and other areas.
Why IH Milan?
All our courses are externally accredited, either by Cambridge English Language Assessment, AISLI or the International House World Organisation. Our teacher trainers have a wealth of teaching and training experience, and are always looking to develop their own practice – a good teacher never stops learning!
Which course should I take?
Each of our courses is described in detail on the pages of this section of our website. The main things to consider are your level of experience and your own teaching context. If you are unsure, please contact the Teacher Training Department and we will be happy to help you decide.
