The International House Milan Saturday Workshop for Teachers returns with its free training programme dedicated to English teachers. The next session takes place on Saturday 25th October from 9:30 to 12:30 at our Via Mecenate centre in Milan.
The workshop “Phonology Refresher: A Survival Kit for Teaching Pronunciation” is led by Anthony Naso (Nino), CELTA Tutor and Teacher Trainer with over 10 years’ experience in the EFL sector and a member of the International House Milan team since 2021.
Why attend
Pronunciation is often one of the most challenging aspects of language teaching. This practical and interactive workshop provides teachers with a “survival kit” for working with phonology in the classroom effectively and engagingly.
Participants will revisit key phonological features, examine common learner difficulties with pronunciation, and develop practical techniques to bring immediately back to their own classrooms.
What you’ll learn
The workshop consists of two sessions:
- Part 1: phonology fundamentals, transcription basics with practical use of phonemic symbols and phonemic charts, strategies to address typical learner difficulties
- Part 2: connected speech, sentence stress and intonation, the art of drilling, toolkit of ready-to-use classroom activities
MIUR-recognised certificate
All participants receive a certificate of attendance valid for recognition of teaching staff training. International House is a member of AISLI (Italian Association of Language Schools), an accredited body for the training of school teaching staff (Decree 177/2000 and Directive 90/2003 of the Ministry of Education).
